In the most extreme altitudes of Ethiopia, finds the region of Guji Uraga. A mountainous region, dense in forest which extends over almost two thousand kilometres. It is in this region that we find some of the most extraordinary and sought-after coffees in the world.
Uraga’s coffees, deeply nuanced, possess bright floral flavors and complex acidity like lime and bergamot, with a sweet aftertaste of stone fruit like peach. When we select Guji’s coffee, we look for notes similar to fresh green onions. These mature over time, allowing us to receive a grain unmatched in its florality.
Welichu Wachu, established in October 2017, employs more than 750 people at three processing sites during the peak season, serving several thousand farmers. This coffee grows in and around the Ugo Begne forest, which is classified as being grown in forest regions, semi-forest regions or grown in gardens. This variety of coffee is classified as a landrace generally called “Kudum” or “Bourbon”.
